Current needs:
Volunteers to assist with teaching at the Kompiam International School
We take children from kindergarten through to Grade 12. Formal teaching qualifications would not be necessary as the school uses the ACE system which allows parents and helpers to function as monitors.
Volunteers to help with building and maintenance
The hospital is in the middle of better organizing our maintenance and projects department, whilst sourcing funding for staff housing expansion. Anyone with building or handyman skills would be very, very welcome over the next 2-3 years.
Doctors
As hospital services continue to expand, alongside a robust patrol program and teaching for final year medical students there is a need to recruit young doctors and volunteers willing to support clinical services to reach some of the most remote and rural areas of our district.
Deputy Director of Nursing
The EBHS has been without a Deputy Director of Nursing (DDNS) since June 2026. This is one of our key leadership positions providing support to the Director of Nursing (DNS) who has oversight of all nursing and community health workers in the organization.
Village Health Volunteer Program Coordinator
The Village Health Volunteer program seeks to train village women in basic health education according to the national curriculum for VHVs. We have trained over 100 VHV’s so far but the program has stalled for want of a trained health worker to oversee the running.
Funding
We are needing ongoing funding for building work, not just in Kompiam, but also in many of our health centres and aid posts, where facilities and housing are still extremely basic.
