Welcome
Kompiam International School (KIS) exists to support families living and working in one of the most remote regions of Enga Province. For many years, limited schooling options meant that staff often had to leave Kompiam to find quality education for their children. In response to this need, KIS was established in 2008 and has since become an essential part of the Kompiam Hospital community
Located within the hospital compound, the school provides a safe, supportive environment where students from diverse backgrounds can learn, grow, and thrive. KIS offers Christian-based education with a strong focus on academic development, character formation, and practical learning suited to a rural setting. By providing reliable, high-quality schooling, the school plays a vital role in strengthening families, improving staff retention, and contributing to long-term community development.
KIS continues to grow each year, serving children from staff families and the wider community, and remains committed to delivering education that is both excellent and accessible in this remote part of Enga Province.
Keeping staff in a remote place like Kompiam has many challenges. One of the biggest is schooling for their children. In an environment where existing school options have been very poor, many staff were forced to leave in order to find quality education. Kompiam International School (KIS) was established in 2008 to meet this need, and has since become an integral part of the hospital’s operations, providing high-quality Christian education that supports staff retention and strengthens the wider community.
