About Us

Enga Baptist Health Services (EBHS) is a faith-based health provider serving the Kompiam-Ambum district of Enga Province and neighboring areas of East Sepik. Established in 1997 as a ministry of the Baptist Union or Papua New Guinea (BUPNG), EBHS exists to deliver compassionate, accessible healthcare in some of the most remote regions of the country. Our work is grounded in the Christian calling to serve others with love, dignity, and hope.

Our Work

EBHS oversees Kompiam Rural Hospital and a network of health centers and aid posts that provide essential medical care to rural communities. Beyond healthcare, EBHS supports education through Kompiam International School, which serves staff families and strengthens the wider community.

We are also a center for rural medical training. Kompiam hosts undergraduate medical students from PNG and overseas, and is home to the UPNG Rural Clinical School, established in 2023. EBHS contributes to the development of PNG’s first specialist pathway for rural doctors – the Master of Medicine (Rural).

Our Christian Mission

As a ministry of the Baptist Union of PNG, EBHS is committed to serving with compassion, integrity, and respect. We believe that every person is created in the image of God and deserving of quality care. Our mission is expressed through practical service – healing the sick, supporting families, strengthening communities, and sharing what we have learned so that others may grow and help still more in turn.

Our Commitment

Across all our services, EBHS is dedicated to building local capacity, strengthening rural health systems, and partnering with communities to improve wellbeing. Our work reflects a long-term commitment to training, empowerment, and service, guided by Christian values and a desire to bring hope to those most in need.
