Marambe is located 1.5 hours from Kompiam, across the mountains to the northeast. Beautiful, very fertile and often uncomfortably hot, it is home to some of our highest malaria burden, and bed net distribution has been a major focus here in past years. The community is accessible by both road and MAF aircraft, although variable road conditions often limit vehicle access to only part of the route.
Government funding in previous years supported the construction of a permanent facility. EBHS complemented this development by installing a 240-volt solar system, a solar-powered vaccine fridge, and 12-volt solar lighting. The solar system now requires maintenance, but it remains a critical part of service delivery. In 2025, Enga Provincial Health Authority (EPHA) assisted with establishing a functioning water supply to the facility.
Marambe is a conjoint facility staffed by both EPHA and EBHS. Two EBHS staff members are currently stationed there. Two EBHS staff houses are available, but an additional staff house is urgently needed to support service expansion and ensure reliable staffing.
The main health center building still requires maintenance and upgrades to bring it to full operational capacity. Marambe remains a critical health facility for the region, with ongoing improvements needed to strengthen infrastructure, staffing support, and long-term sustainability of services.
