Kompiam District is home to vibrant communities, strong families, and dedicated local leaders. Our community programs are built on one simple belief: health improves when people are empowered, connected, and supported.

From village health volunteers to radio ministry and outreach patrols, each program reflects our commitment to holistic care – physical, social, and spiritual.

Below is an overview of the programs that strengthen our district and extend the reach of Kompiam Hospital.

Village Health Volunteer (VHV) Program

The VHV Program equips trusted community members with basic health knowledge, first-aid skills, and tools to support their villages. VHVs are the backbone of rural health in Kompiam – providing:

• health education
• early identification of illness
• basic first aid
• referrals to the hospital
• support during outreach patrols

Their work bridges the gap between remote communities and formal health services.

Sauan FM Radio Ministry

Sauan FM is our community radio station, broadcasting:

• health education
• public service announcements
• Christian teaching
• community news
• school updates
• emergency alerts

In a district where communication is challenging, Sauan FM provides connection, encouragement, and life-saving information.

Outreach Patrols

Many families in Kompiam live far from the hospital, with limited access to transport or regular clinical services.

Our Outreach Patrols bring essential healthcare directly to these communities through:

• Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) supported air patrols to villages accessible only by plane
• foot patrols to nearby communities
• MCH patrols focused on mothers and children
• school visits that promote health education and early detection

These patrols ensure that no village is left behind, regardless of distance or terrain. They strengthen community relationships, support VHVs, and help maintain vital services such as immunisation, antenatal care, and TB follow-up
